Anátema
Emerging British-Brazilian artist Prior Policarpo presents their debut durational art performance, an exploration of home, faith, and culture. With citronella candles flickering and bossa nova records playing, come and go to witness the progression of a four-day artistic movement as Prior paints the all-white room.
Anátema, a tribute to Prior’s past, examines the impact of Brazil’s military regime on their childhood, depicting how it has shaped them into the person they are today. Anátema faces history head-on, attempting to decipher the cycle of cultural trauma, fascist power, and the chronic failure of systems that promised to care for their people but failed them at the starting line.
