THE MAC BOYS.
MAC is a powerful and intimate reimagining of the events surrounding the flooding of Capel Celyn, a Welsh-speaking village drowned in 1965 to supply water to Liverpool, despite overwhelming opposition from its community.
Told through a stripped-back, two-person performance, the piece shifts focus away from the headlines and into the homes, relationships, and lives affected by the decision. At its heart are two women, navigating love, loss, and uncertainty, as the actions of those closest to them begin to unfold.
As peaceful protest turns to direct action, the formation of Mudiad Amddiffyn Cymru (MAC) marks a turning point, a movement that moved beyond words and into resistance. Through memory, conversation, and lived experience, the audience is taken through the emotional and political aftermath of a moment that reshaped modern Wales.
Blending historical fact with personal storytelling, MAC explores the human cost of being unheard, asking:
When a voice is ignored, how far is too far to make it heard?
This new iteration brings the story closer than ever: raw, immediate, and deeply personal, placing the audience at the centre of a history that still echoes today.
